Most Trending NFT Projects of 2022

On a daily basis, a lot of new NFT initiatives are launched. From world-renowned singers to movie stars and public figures, everyone is investing in digital assets and flaunting them on social media, leading in an exponential increase in NFT sales.

NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, made news in March 2021 when American artist Beeple’s sculpture, Everydays: The First 5000 Days, was sold for US$69 million. As a consequence of such vast quantities being spent on digital assets, the most popular NFT initiatives have enticed more individuals to invest in the metaverse.

CryptoPunks

CryptoPunks was one of the first non-fungible token projects on Ethereum. According to Larva Labs, who debuted them in 2017, they were algorithmically created and contain a collection of 10,000 distinct collectable tokens. Two Canadian software developers collaborated on the creation of this collection.

In this NFT initiative, the characters resemble pixelated punks who may be bought, sold, or bid on. The most popular subculture, punk, is included in the collection. There are also 88 zombie punks, 24 ape punks, and nine alien punks in the collection.

These punks have a distinct background colour that tells clients about the state of the digital asset. Characters with a red background are available for purchase, while those with a purple background are currently being bid on. If the backdrop colour is blue, the punk, on the other hand, is not for sale.

The CryptoPunk that sold for the highest money was an alien avatar valued at US7.58 million.

American singers Jay-Z and Snoop Dogg, as well as tennis star Serena Williams, are among the CryptoPunk NFT holders.

Bored Ape Yacht Club

One of today’s most well-known NFT collections is the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC). Among those who have invested in BAYC include talk show host Jimmy Fallon, singer Future, music producer DJ Khaled, and YouTuber Logan Paul. The American rapper Eminem is the most recent celebrity to join the bandwagon, owning a piece of digital art that looks like him. He also uses it as his Twitter profile picture.

BAYC is a Yuga Labs game that features animated apes with different qualities and rarities that clog the Ethereum network. The NFT project has gathered a total of 10,000 different Bored Apes.

Since its debut in April 2021, their values have increased dramatically, making this collection one of the fastest-appreciating in the industry. Owners of these NFTs are given a Yacht Club membership card, which includes a plethora of perks including invitations to exclusive digital concerts.

A BAYC NFT was auctioned for the highest price of 769 ETH ($2.3 million).

The Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC), which features a unique collection of apes, is a separate venture from the BAYC.

MAYC made its debut in August 2021. 10,000 Mutant Apes was part of the collection, and was sold for USD 96 million on the spot. The alteration, however, did not stop there.

According to CoinGeko, MAYC might be manufactured with a “vial of mutant serum or by minting a Mutant Ape in the public auction.”

This shows that BAYC’s creators devised a one-of-a-kind system that benefitted both holders of the original Bored Ape NFTs and the Mutant Apes’ appeal.

“Serum” is the name of a new NFT that they released. Holders of the Bored Ape cards might convert their ‘apes’ into Mutant Apes by using the “Serum,” which comes in three variants, including a giant mutant serum.

As a result, all 10,000 Bored Apes may become Mutant Apes in the same manner. The Mutant Apes collection now includes a total of 20,000 NFTs, thanks to the previously published mutants.

MAYC NFTs are somewhat less costly than the Bored Apes that are now being stored.

In the United States, a Mutant Ape may cost up to $32,600. Among the celebrities who own Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFTs include American rapper Lil Baby, actor Drake Bell, NBA player Shaquille O’Neal, and Ethereum co-founder Taylor Gerring, whose mutant ape was developed by exposing a Bored Ape to a super mutant serum.

Axie Infinity is a fictional character created by Axie.

Decentraland

Decentraland, which was started in July 2020, is one of the newest initiatives among NFTs.

Decentraland, a virtual reality realm built on top of the Ethereum blockchain, enables users to purchase property, construct houses, and create avatars. Additionally, owners may swap their digital valuables.

Buying property in this location might be costly. Land plots in Decentraland were sold for USD 15.53 million in November 2021, according to Business Insider.

One of the celebrities that has been associated to Decentralan is Paris Hilton.

In 2022, these are seven of the most popular NFT projects to keep an eye on.
